 - Running Stud and Commercial Cattle, White Suffolk Stud of 1100 stud ewes.

Present Owners since 1989, Crops have included Durum Wheat,
Barley, Canola/Winter Wheat, Oats, Black eyed Peas, Sorghum,
Sunflowers and forage Sorghum. As a crop rotation lucerne (currently
351 ha Sown) is established by undersowing Durum wheat.

Durum wheat Yields have always averaged 4-5 T/Ha of DR1 unless
damaged by weather.

Tandara is 40kms from Killara feedlot and 50kms from Caroona feedlot. The property lends itself to growing and fattening
Out steers, bullocks and lambs.  Tandara white Suffolk lambs will reach 45kgs at 20-24 weeks of
age.  Ewe lambs are joined at 9 months of age with a minimum weight of 48kgs.
68 Lambs August September drop will be delivered to Woolworths on20/11/09.
These lambs will dress about 20.5 kg, and the oldest lamb is only 15 wks. These Lambs sold for
$101.23 net.

Country – Gently undulating rising to a low basalt grazing hill in the southern boundary. Soils vary
From the rich black self mulching types typical of the Plains to chocolate and black basalts and an
area of fertile sandy loams.

rock outcrop  Original timber  was yellow and grey box with some kurrajong and pine on the
grazing country. Further eucalypt planting has been carried out in the last 20 years
providing livestock shade belts.

Owner estimates 1300 acres have been cultivated of which over 1000 acres is self mulching black soil with a ph of 7-8.
For the past cropping season, 2008, 60ha (150 acres) were sown to winter wheat for grazing
128ha (320 acres) canola and 122ha (305 acres) durum wheat.   Approximately 225 tonnes of
canola were harvested with an average oil content of 42% .

401 tonnes of Durum wheat were harvested of which only 23.5 tonnes went feed.

A large proportion of the property is sown to Venus lucerne pasture and 63ha (157.5 acres) of the 2008 crop is undersown   
with Venus lucerne, 118 Ha has been under sown to Aurora Lucerne in June 2009.
35ha (88 acres) were sown to BMR forage sorghum in November 2008.
94 ha were sown to tropical pastures in January 2009, plus 50 kg per Hectare of DAP.
50ha of this pasture is very average and this paddock has been direct drilled with Lucerne in June 2009, with outstanding results.
The current crops are 102ha of Durum Wheat (sown June 09) of which 73ha is under sown with Lucerne plus 45 ha of Lucerne direct drilled into tropical pasture.
70ha of winter wheat sown 24.2.09. This wheat has now finished and will be sprayed out.

The unimproved country – 233ha. – Has been supered  every 3 years with SF45.
28 Tonne of Gypsum was spread over 233 Ha of grass country the 6th of March 09.  
 
Water – Outstanding water facilities with 1 windmill & bore and 2 bores equipped with electric
submersible pumps. Owner estimates the bore capacity near mailbox at approx 1200 GPH.
 
All paddocks have good sized troughs with excellent pressure from either
gravity or pressure pump where needed. Storage for approx 70,000 gallons of stock water plus 3 dams.

The property was carrying 1100 White Suffolk stud ewes, 22 x 2007 stud rams, 267 x 2008 rams, 
-745 lambs aged  5 – 8 months (includes 330 replacement ewe lambs to be joined March 2009). 

-74 joined Angus stud females + 57 calves, 19 bulls, 98 trading steers & 163 commercial cows & calves.  

The 8 alpacas + 2 stock horses & all the stud cattle + 220 Stud Ewes + 75 ewe lambs will be moved to the new Dorrigo property prior to settlement.

Tandara has a 700 metre airstrip which is used when the hill country is fertilised. 

The successful purchaser will have the option of buying the balance of the white Suffolk Stud, approx 350 ewes, if they are not sold prior to exchange of contracts.

We will retain approx 300 ewes and move them to our new property at Dorrigo.

As the present owners will be retaining the Tandara prefix for their White Suffolk and Angus stud the sign on the entrance road will be removed.

Classing service for the White Suffolk stud would be available for a period of 12 months to the purchaser subject to negotiation.
